Rez-de-chaussée bas

The most remarkable thing in our lives these days is Jonah's extraordinary vocabulary spurt.
A sample of the new words I heard him say today were

In English: building, homesick (from an Elmo book we have in which Elmo experiences that feeling), life net and extinguisher (both from a fire fighter book we have).
In French: rez-de-chaussée bas (the lower ground floor where we get off of the elevator to go out of our building without having to carry the stroller down the steps), Metro, and fleurs. However, if you ask him if he can say something in French, he inevitably demonstrates with "Je t'aime beaucoup," which I think he instinctively knows will garner the best response of his whole repetoire.

Abe is working on his French too. We bought a kids' book (M. Incroyable) which he has mastered, and he is feeling ready for a bigger challenge. The new Harry Potter in French maybe?

As you can see from the photo, the cut on Jonah's nose has healed well, and fortunately the new cut on his chin (from falling on the sidewalk) doesn't show up too well in photos. In case you were wondering, you can buy Pooh bandaids in Paris if you look hard enough. We are trying to convince Jonah to sit in the stroller more :)

The photo is from outside the Pompidou center. (I asked Jonah to put his crepe down [away from his face] for the picture, and he follows directions explicitly). Despite the intermittent rain, we also enjoyed a picnic supper in the Place des Vosges, where Parisians apparently occasionally overlook the normal prohibition against sitting on the grass in formal parks.
