Baby Atelier

Today we spent another day at the Jardin D'acclimitation in the Bois de Boulogne. We went specifically because they had art ateliers (workshops) for the kids at the Musee en Herbe there. Unfortunately, the big kids' atelier was all booked by the time we arrived, but Jonah was thrilled to be able to participate in his first workshop (the Baby Atelier). For about an hour, the 2-4 year olds created art projects on the theme of Chagall's work. The teachers showed the kids various examples of Chagall's work and the kids created things in the same style. Jonah was very focused thoroughout the workshop and was so proud of his creations at the end. Meanwhile, Ella went to the Explor@dome. This is a collection of hands-on science exhibits for kids to explore. One highlight was building a compression arch bridge out of rubber blocks that was actually strong enough to support her weight (and Abe's) as she walked across it. There was also a 4 foot diameter snowball that demonstrated how snow is made from the moisture in the air.

This time, both kids watched the marionette show, which they loved (Jonah: "This funny marionette show." compared, I guess, to his vast experience with other, less funny, marionette shows). Ella embraced the experience much more this time, clapping and answering questions in concert with the other children (although she still understood only a tiny fraction of what they were saying).
