Frozen food

Seems like we talk about food a lot, but here are two quick food related items from today.

- Finally, our 4th Shabbat here, we managed to buy our own challah. To do this, we had to go early to the kosher bakery on Blvd. Voltaire. You can find it by looking for a bakery with a line out the door on Friday morning. It smells so good in there that you could gain ten pounds just from breathing too deeply.

- We also discovered the joys of Picard, an incredible frozen food store (yes, even in France, people sometimes just want to take their dinner out of the freezer). This store is nothing but freezer case after freezer case, but French style, of course. There is one case just for pasteries, another just for organ meats (liver, etc.), and rows of freezers full of beautifully frozen organic vegetables. This will be especially nice, I'm sure, in the winter when the choices at the fresh produce markets dwindle. Taken by the novelty, we decided to have both lunch (pasta with spinach and baby peas) and dinner (soup, carmelized chicken, veggies) entirely from Picard. As usual here, everything was delicious.
