Kindergarten

Finally, today, after 3 weeks here, we had gathered all the necessary paperwork to get Ella enrolled in Kindergarten. We were still nervous, as so much seems to depend on the mood and whim of the bureaucrat who "helps" you, and you never know what hurdle they might present. But, all went smoothly, and we left with a piece of paper saying that Ella is registered for Kindergarten at the school behind our building (pictured here). There is still a chance that when the school director returns at the end of August, we will be told that there is not enough room for Ella (in the wisdom of the French system, the town hall registers kids for school, but the schools themselves keep lists of enrollment and how many spaces they have available), and we will have to take her to a different school. But, we are optimistic and happy to have accomplished this much. Although we also left with a paper saying that Jonah is enrolled in school, we have been warned that places for two year olds are very limited and that the chances that he will get a spot are quite slim. We spoke to a very nice woman at one of the creches (day cares), but waiting lists are long there too. So, we'll keep investigating other options for Jonah.

I'll take him!!! Plan C is that you fly Aunt Shari out to be Jonah's nanny. Oh and Rowan, too. Yeah, that's plan D.
So proud of you for overcoming french red tape......
