Grandpa's visit Part I

Close on the heels of Nana and Allen's departure, Grandpa Dave arrived on Saturday morning. The first weekend of his visit was unseasonably warm, so we took advantage of this by spending a lot of time outdoors. Two highlights were a picnic in the Parc de Buttes-Chaumont (where Ella and Jonah both climbed their first tree!) and sailing toy boats on the fountain in the Jardin des Tuilleries. We also saw a wacky, but entertaining show called "The Kingdom of Candy." It seemed to have been written on a dare to use every costume in the theater's wardrobe (from hula outfits to giant teddy bears to super heroes) and was perfectly designed to appeal to a 5 year old's sense of humor. We also had a great meal at Brasserie Flottes in the 1st arrondisement. I finally found the french onion soup gratinee I've been craving since fall began.
